Drona (Acrylic on Paper)

$275.00

Medium

Original acrylic painting on 9x12 fine art paper. Mounted on a 15 x 18 deep indigo tortoise shell patterned frame with a linen mat.

About this work

The legendary warrior sage Dronacharya (Drona) was a teacher to both the Kauravas and the Pandavas. From a modern lens, Drona is definitely a gray character. He refused to train multiple skilled warriors owing to their lineage and claimed the right thumb of Ekalavya to ensure his student Arjuna had no competition. In the Kurukshetra war, after giving the Pandava forces a run for their money, he was finally tricked into giving up his arms and slain by Dhristadyumna, the son of his lifelong frenemy Drupada in a long sequence of events that show how revenge begets more revenge.

In this work, Drona is seen firing a stealthy arrow, camouflaged by the leaves.

Dimensions

  • The complete size including the frame measures 15 inches x 18 inches. The actual piece measures 9 inches x 12 inches.

Framing

  • Mounted on a 15 x 18 deep green tortoise shell patterned frame with a linen mat. It is ready to hang. See pictures for more details.
